Both are results of active sebaceous glands which some pores developed inflammation causing an acne rupture. When a wound heals, the skin forms new collagen fibres, leading to scar tissue.

Scars appeared either raised or depressed.

Depressed acne scars appear as small indentations caused by insufficient collagen production during healing. Whereas raised scars result from over-production of collagen and are bumpy.
